OrbitRadio ("the App") is a modern internet radio streaming application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a safe and transparent experience while using our services.
2. Information We Collect
a. Location Information
OrbitRadio requests access to your device's location to provide "Automatic Country Detection." This allows the App to suggest radio stations local to your current area.
How it's used: Your location is used locally on your device to determine your country.
Sharing: We do not store your precise location on our servers, nor do we share it with third parties for tracking purposes.
b. Local Storage
The App stores certain data locally on your device to improve your experience:
Favorites: Stations you mark as favorites are stored in a local database (Room).
Settings: Your application preferences (e.g., theme settings) are stored locally via Jetpack DataStore.
This data remains on your device and is not synchronized to any external server managed by us.
c. Usage Data
We do not collect personal identification data, such as your name, email address, or phone number, through the normal operation of the App.
3. Third-Party Services
To provide its core functionality and support development, OrbitRadio interacts with the following third-party services:
Radio Browser API: Used to fetch the directory of radio stations. When searching or browsing, the App communicates with these public servers. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy practices.
Google Play Services: Used for location services and basic app functionality.
Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use the Advertising ID (AD_ID) and other device identifiers to provide personalized or non-personalized ads. We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to gather and manage your consent for personalized advertising, particularly if you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF).
Content Providers: When you stream a station, you are connecting directly to that station's stream provider. Your IP address may be visible to the station provider as part of the standard streaming process.
4. Children's Privacy
OrbitRadio does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The App provides access to public radio broadcasts which may contain content from various sources; parental guidance is recommended.
5. Permissions
To function correctly, the App may request the following permissions:
Internet: To stream radio stations and fetch metadata.
Location: To filter stations by your current country.
Post Notifications: To show playback controls in the system notification area (Android 13+).
You can manage these permissions at any time through your device settings.
6. Changes to This Policy
